So wait, what is this?†

This is my new blog—expect discussions of things that I can’t write about as part of my academic or freelance work, as well as more out-there subjects in politics, tech and economics that crop up along the way.

And who the heck are you?

Fair point. Most people know me by my handle, the_frey, the-frey or ‘frey’. At this point I’m pretty doxxed,†† so my name is Alex. There’s probably a little box-out with my bio on this page somewhere.

I’m a technologist, music journalist, tech founder and Computer Science PhD researcher. For some reason, I’m also writing a novel about Lord Nelson. Imagine that all my posts come with a [citation needed] warning, and you’ll be fine.

I’m currently a Fractional CTO,††† and conduct research in the field of payment systems and blockchain governance, but did my undergrad in economic history. Most of my career has been spent in startups, with some notable stints in enterprise and as a consultant.

I specialise in transformation strategy, greenfield build, due diligence, and—of course—blockchains, digital payments and identity systems. If you want to speak to me about any of those things, there’s a link to my LinkedIn above, or you can email alex [at] envoys [dot] io.

† A school for ants?!

†† I have also quite literally been doxxed in the past, but that’s another story.

††† I also run a startup, a blockchain consultancy and staking services provider. Link in the navbar.
